Special to the Weston Observer

On Nov. 1, the Observer launched its second year-end Institute for Nonprofit News/NewsMatch campaign. What makes this campaign different from other fundraising efforts? Newsmatch gives nonprofit news organizations, like the Observer, an opportunity to earn matching funds from news-minded grant makers such as NewsMatch, the Knight Foundation, the Barr Foundation and the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. In addition to these outside institutions, a local family has generously agreed to augment the pool of matching funds offered by these foundations with an additional $25K. How can you help us earn these matching funds?

  • Any and all, please donate – Donations made between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 will earn matching funds for the Observer. Meeting all match goals could raise as much as $45,000 toward our fundraising goal for 2026. All one-time donations made from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026 will be matched dollar for dollar.
  • Become a recurring donor – New recurring donations of $10 per month or more or any increase to current recurring donations will be annualized and matched 2:1.
  • Become a new donor – Receiving donations of any amount from 50 first-time donors during this timeframe will unlock additional grant funds for the Observer. These donations will also be counted toward the match challenge.
  • Spread the word – Tell your neighbors, encourage your friends, post on social media: local news thrives on local support!

If you enjoy reading the Weston Observer and value learning more about our town, please consider supporting us to help sustain this community news source. Act now, and your gift will deliver a matching grant to the Observer. We can’t do this without you, but together, we can “keep up the good news!”

Recurring and one-time donations can be made online, or you can mail a check made payable to the Weston Observer/P.O. Box 428/Weston, MA 02493.  EIN: 33-2098465
