Letter: Disappointed in Select Board decisions

I was once again severely disappointed both by the secretive actions and the ultimate decision of the Select Board with regard to the lease of The Woods. Issuing “an ultimatum” is a sure way to collapse the project altogether and in doing so, guarantee that there will not be a restaurant in that space anytime soon (if ever).

If the amount of money that Brian Piccini has already reportedly spent trying to get this done is not an indication of his sincerity, I don’t know what it.

And all these “Executive Session” meetings that exclude the public are also not a good look for the Board (shades of the Doug Gillespie fiasco seem to be appearing).  The public should be allowed to attend discussions and voice their opinions – why all the secrecy?

And while I’m voicing my overall displeasure with the actions of The Board, I also believe that removing the HYM warrant from the Special Town Meeting is also a questionable action – how can the project not have been fully vetted yet?  It was first proposed 11 months ago – how long does vetting take?  The justification and arguments in favor of the proposal have been clearly spelled out by the group that supported it – the Board’s nebulous denial of allowing the due process of the town voting either Yea or Nay on it seems suspect at best.
