Letter: Poor cell service is unacceptable

Thank you Addison Antonoff for your article on Weston’s cell service (Weston Observer, June 19, 2026). As much as I enjoy living here, the lack of cell service in this day and age is not only frustrating, but unacceptable.

For our family, cellular service is not just a matter of convenience, it has become one of necessity. My partner wore a heart monitor for two years which was unable to transmit information due to the lack of a consistent cellular connection. Now with a new pacemaker, I will be responsible for transmitting data from his device on a monthly basis and am not sure if that will even work.

The fact that the ad hoc committee does not meet regularly is very disconcerting. Why are people on a committee that effectively does nothing? Hopefully Select Board member Rebecca Mercuri will continue the work of Tom Palmer to bring decent cellular service to Weston.

Surely if the town can find places to build water towers, they can find a place to build a cellular tower. Let’s please make this a priority.
