Letter: Housing Production Plan available to view online

He and his daughter are not the only ones.

As part of the planning process for the 2026 update to the Housing Production Plan, the Town conducted a community-wide survey, which closed on July 22. While the responses were more limited, the survey responses indicated broad interest in expanding the variety of housing sizes and types available in Weston to better accommodate younger people starting off on their own, empty nesters looking to downsize and multi-generational living.

The Town of Weston is currently working on an updating the Housing Production Plan (HPP) with the final submission to the commonwealth on Aug. 14. The Planning Board and Select Board will jointly review the draft plan during the Select Board’s Aug. 11 meeting.

The Housing Production Plan is updated every five years and provides a comprehensive assessment of Weston’s current and future housing needs. It establishes strategies to increase housing opportunities, including affordable housing, by keeping Weston’s preferences and policies aligned. Having a current HPP also allows Weston to achieve “temporary safe harbor,” if we’re making progress towards attaining the state’s required 10% of affordable housing.
