Letter: More info on Chainsaw Brigade

Thank you for publishing the article on the Chainsaw Brigade! The people involved are enthusiastic, talented, and generous with their time. I offer a few clarifications.  

For many years WFTA paid a nearly full-time trail manager to keep the trails clear, at a cost which comprised about 2/3 of our total annual expense. So the Chainsaw Brigade has saved WFTA significantly. Now funds can be directed to tools and supplies, programming, administrative expenses and, most costly, surveying and legal expertise to maintain the many easements, conservation restrictions, and properties that WFA owns.  

Last, the town and WFTA share the cost of the part-time summer crew who perform general trail maintenance.
