Candidate for Select Board: Rebecca Mercuri

I’m seeking to join the Select Board because this is an important time for Weston. I believe I can help the Town as we face pending challenges such as large-scale development proposals, major infrastructure needs, and new State mandates. Meeting these challenges requires steady and thoughtful leadership that carefully evaluates options and bases decisions on clear, reliable information.
Weston residents care deeply about decisions that shape our town. Public involvement matters – people need to be listened to. Throughout my career I’ve dealt with complex issues and managed substantial resources. I know how to dig into the details, ask the right questions, and identify what truly matters to guide decisions. These skills are essential as we consider important projects such as housing, new schools, the water-tank replacement, and upgrades to our fire stations. We need to sharpen the pencil, keep spending and taxes under control, and make smart, responsible investments in Weston’s future.
The responsibilities of the Select Board extend well beyond financial oversight. The primary duty of the Select Board is to ensure that the life and property of Weston residents are protected. Public safety, along with the amenities and services that make Weston such a special place, must remain central to our work. Change will happen, but that does not mean Weston must fundamentally change. We need to listen carefully to concerns and work toward solutions that address critical needs, while preserving the character and values that residents cherish.
I love this community. I want Weston to be a place where people feel heard, respected, and confident in the decisions being made. I am prepared to put in the time and energy required to help Weston thrive while maintaining the qualities that make it a wonderful place to live. I would be grateful for your vote on May 2.
