Letter to the editor: Schools no longer using SGARs to control rodents
Save Weston Wildlife would like to update its “Did You Know” article about pest control (Weston Observer, Jan. 16, 2026). Weston Public Schools has changed its policy on the use of second generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) after a successful pilot test of snap traps. As of now, SGARs are not in use inside or outside any public school property.
We are so appreciative of the Schools Facilities Department and especially Superintendent Karen Zaleski for the time, attention and concern for this matter. Weston Public Schools joins several private schools as well as the town of Weston in removing SGARs from their properties, which helps protect our wildlife, our pets and our families.
