Letter: Re-elect Newman to the School Committee
Re-elect Newman to the School Committee
Adam Newman has already demonstrated the kind of judgment and steadiness the School Committee needs right now. As chair, he has helped guide the district through complex decisions while keeping the focus where it belongs—on students and on measurable outcomes that reflect their experience.
The work ahead will involve issues such as AI and other technologies, our secondary campus, leadership transitions, and how the district prepares students for what lies beyond Weston. These are ongoing decisions that require consistency, perspective, and a willingness to ask hard questions over time.
I’ve known Adam for over 20 years and had the opportunity to serve alongside him on the School Committee. Earlier in my career, when my company engaged his firm, his strategic thinking—and the questions he asked—led us to change direction in a way that made a meaningful difference. On the Committee, he brings that same perspective, consistently keeping the focus on students and on measurable outcomes.
As current chair, Adam provides important continuity as the district navigates complex, multi-year initiatives, including strategic planning, leadership transitions, and the negotiation of a new contract with Weston’s educators. His professional work advising organizations on complex decisions, including educational technology and AI, brings valuable real-world insight to Weston at a time when those issues are increasingly central to education.
While Adam no longer has children in the district, School Committee members have served effectively over the years without children in Weston Public Schools. The Committee also includes strong parent representation. Adam complements those perspectives with broad experience, institutional knowledge, and a clear, district-wide focus.
During Adam’s tenure on the committee, Weston’s schools have remained among the strongest in the state. Sustaining that performance depends on continued, well-informed leadership. I hope you’ll support Adam Newman for re-election.
