Letter: Dietz for School Committee
I am a Weston public school alum, a proud parent of two children who currently attend Weston schools, and I am excited to vote for Steve Dietz for School Committee.
Steve is thoughtful and committed to preserving and improving our town’s outstanding school system. He is dedicated to representing all of us, including residents who have children in the Weston schools, and those who don’t.
Steve’s work and expertise in technology and finance will be an asset on the School Committee. He is passionate and data-driven. He is energized to support and receive input from the exceptional teams of teachers in our schools. He is excited to work on three timely issues: attracting and retaining exceptional educators; using technology creatively and responsibly; maintaining high standards in our schools to benefit all students at all levels.
Most of my conversations with Steve over the past six years have been on the sidelines while watching our children play soccer. I consider Steve a friend, but that’s not why I’m voting for him. Starting in fall of this year, Steve will have four children in the Weston schools, with one child at each level, from kindergarten through high school. He will have children attending Weston schools for the next 13 years, which uniquely positions him to understand what is going on in each one of our schools.
I know that Steve will listen to all of us. I feel grateful that he is running for the School Committee, and I’m excited to vote for him on Saturday, May 2.
