Vegetative Management Plan

Public Notice RIGHT-OF-WAY MAINTENANCE As required by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 85, the Town of Weston Department of Public Works hereby gives notice that it intends to apply herbicides to control primarily poison ivy along the sidewalks in town. Rodeo or Aquaneat, Oust Extra, Escort XP, Garlon 4 Ultra, Milestone, Esplanade 200SC, and/or Polaris, in appropriate combinations will be selectively applied to the foliage or trunks of target vegetation using hand-held equipment between August 1, 2026, to October 18, 2026. Cut stumps may be treated to prevent re-sprouts between August 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Weston utilizes herbicides as a necessary component of their integrated vegetation management (IVM) program. This public way IVM program is a combination of cultural, physical, mechanical, and chemical management techniques that control undesirable vegetation in an ecologically sound manner.
