Letter: Support Steve Dietz for School Committee
Editor’s note: Next week, April 17, is the last week for letters of support for candidates. The candidates themselves will have the opportunity to run a statement in the April 24 edition of the Weston Observer.
Support for Steve Dietz for School Committee
I am writing in strong support of Steve Dietz for the Weston School Committee as both a parent in the district and as an education professional with over 15 years as a teacher in public school education systems. I was recently introduced to Steve and came away very impressed by his thoughtful perspective and genuine commitment to our community.
During our conversation, Steve spoke with pride about Weston’s many successes, while also asking how we can be better, how we can listen to peers and be open-minded. It was clear that he approaches these topics with both optimism and a desire to contribute constructively.
As a parent of four children currently spanning the district, Steve brings a valuable, firsthand understanding of the student experience at every level. This gives him a well-rounded perspective on both what is working well and where improvements could be made. Steve is data-focused and cares deeply that we ask hard questions and listen to all perspectives.
Importantly, Steve is not looking to fix something he sees as broken. Rather, he is focused on strengthening what already works and ensuring that student success remains at the center of every decision. As a fellow parent in the district, I strongly believe in his ability to do exactly that.
While I appreciate the service and dedication of the incumbent, I find myself drawn to Steve’s perspective as an actively engaged parent whose decisions will directly impact his own children, as well as all students in the district.
For these reasons, I wholeheartedly support Steve Dietz for the Weston School Committee. Please vote on May 2.
