Lunar New Year celebrations, honoring 2026 as the Year of the Horse, are underway in Weston in advance of the holiday, which falls on Feb. 17.
Last weekend, Weston High School was decked out in red, the customary color signifying happiness, celebration and good fortune, for an Lunar New Year gala held by WeStar, a local non-profit that brings together the town’s Chinese community. A cultural festival connected community members with local businesses, offered arts and crafts and provided treats, including cotton candy and candied fruits called tanghulu. In the afternoon, performances from the community showcased Chinese art, dance and music.
