Town website gets a makeover

The town website got a refresh this week.

The new design features less dead space and navigation options broken down into smaller boxes to make it easier to maneuver. Fonts will also be compliant with accessibility standards.

Assistant to the Town Manager Stephen Addonizio said the change is a long time coming and he is happy to make life a little easier for residents trying to find information. While the site retains its old functions, the project’s focus was on creating a sleeker, easier-to-navigate experience for residents.

“We’re excited for the refresh. It’ll be a lot more modern,” he said. “One of the big issues we’ve heard about is navigation. It’s very overwhelming, it’s a lot of text coming at you.”

The town updated the website to move closer to compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, a set of standards for what makes a website accessible for people with disabilities. The town website has to be fully compliant by April 2028.

Future work will include making PDFs more accessible, updating the tagging system and improving the key word search so the website’s thousands of pages are easier to find and read.
