Letter: Library escape room was a hit

The walls loomed in around me, seeming to close with each passing second. This challenge was one that I had anticipated for weeks. Four weeks ago, I attended the Escape From The Terrible Thicket program. Though I walked in nervous, I would soon discover that there was more to this program than meets the eye. I was nervous because I was younger than the intended age group and worried about being locked inside. However, despite my worries, I found the program enjoyable and fun, as I met some of my friends and we got to work on a multitude of puzzles.

Every minute felt like an hour as I waited for the clock to strike 6 p.m. At 5:55 p.m., we were finally allowed inside the room. Matt, the program’s host, explained that there were several small locked boxes hidden around the room. Though we worked as a team to solve all of them, my favorite puzzle was definitely matching the wood blocks. It was quite tedious, but eventually we were able to solve the puzzle and open one of the locked boxes.

One of my favorite things about this program was how we all cooperated as a team. Once we had opened all of the locked boxes, we were able to piece together a map. Everyone had a role, and whether you were solving locks or assembling the map, we all played our part in the solution and worked together to successfully escape the thicket, after which we all got invisible ink pens. Overall, this program turned a drenching, dreary day into a fun, suspenseful evening.
