Where does Weston rank in US News & World report?

The magazine evaluated nearly 18,000 schools, examining student performance on state-required tests, school graduation rates and how well schools prepared their students for college.

U.S. News & World Report ranked Weston High School 23rd in its 2025 list of top public high schools in Massachusetts and 506th in the U.S. overall.

The magazine evaluated nearly 18,000 schools, examining student performance on state-required tests, school graduation rates and how well schools prepared their students for college. Weston placed 18th in the Boston area and 152nd nationwide for STEM high schools.

In Weston, 73% of students took Advanced Placement courses and exams, and 61% passed at least one AP test. Eighty-five percent demonstrated mathematics proficiency, 88% were proficient in reading, and 74% showed proficiency in science. Ninety-eight percent of seniors graduated, slightly above the state average.

Superintendent Karen Zaleski said, “There are mixed views on rankings…they do matter to many in the community.”

Who is at the top?

Boston Latin School topped the U.S. News & World Report list of the state’s 366 high schools, with Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School in Hadley coming in second. Lexington High School, Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis and O’Bryant School of Math and Science in Roxbury rounded out the top five.

BASIS Tucson North in Tucson, Arizona, was named the top high school in the nation.

Another set of stats

Niche.com, a ranking site that combines data with reviews from parents, students and alumni, placed the Weston district as a whole at the top of the list of Best School Districts in the state, and 36 out of more than 10,000 in the country. On the Niche list of Best Places to Teach in America, Weston placed 97 out of more than 11,000, and was ranked 176 out of 11,000 Districts with the Best Teachers in America.
