Angela Lee, a Weston High School teacher, recently participated in the 2025 Discover Korea research fellowship offered by the World History Digital Education Foundation.
The fellowship, sponsored by the Korea Foundation, brings together exceptional educators from around the world for a yearlong program focused on Korea’s history, culture, economy and democratic evolution. Thirty teachers were selected from nations that participated in the Korean War.
Lee joined fellow educators for a 10-day research visit to South Korea in June. Throughout the trip, they interacted with Korean scholars and teachers through lectures, discussions and interactive experiences.
Highlights included visits to historically and culturally significant sites across South Korea. Fellows explored the Demilitarized Zone, the Jikji Museum and POSCO, one of the world’s leading steelmakers. A stay at Haeinsa Temple, home of the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Tripitaka Koreana, offered insight into Korea’s spiritual and cultural traditions.
“The Discover Korea research trip was so meaningful on so many levels. It gave me a deeper understanding and appreciation about Korea in the world,” Lee said.
