Following a breach of CodeRED, Weston’s emergency alert system provider, the town announced this week it is transitioning back to Rave Mobile Safety, the community’s previous system for “WestonAlerts.”

Residents are encouraged to re-register for WestonAlerts notifications to receive emergency alerts, public safety information and community notices. To sign up, visit bit.ly/4oT1ieR.

“It will be how the town will communicate to people in the community all sorts of alerts of an emergency nature,” Town Manager Leon Gaumond said at the Dec. 2 Select Board meeting.

Weston previously used CodeRED as its provider, but a cyberattack on Nov. 22 resulted in the complete lost of CodeRED’s system. Usernames and passwords in CodeRED’s system were accessed by cybercriminals, but town systems were untouched. Residents who use the same login information for other platforms are encouraged to change their passwords.
